Cheerful and exciting right from the first note, The Drums are able to capture the essence of everything good in the music world at the moment with their debut EP, Summertime!. Clean notes, humorous percussion (a good thing), diverse vocals, and dangerous hooks make this band an instant nominee for my best new band of 2009 (even without a full-length album).
In addition to their “jolly” clapping, The Drums spit out uplifting, honest lyrics which make their spirited melodies perfect for a day at the beach (I’m picturing a sunny day at Jones Beach, damn this London rain sucks). This band is destined to be an indie sensation, and an EP like this is the perfect jump-start for a successful career.
