If you’re anything like us at The Wild Honey Pie, you spent some of your most formative years wistfully singing along to Something Corporate and Jack’s Mannequin. Both bands were the product of brilliant musician Andrew McMahon. When we learned that McMahon was planning a new record under the moniker Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness we jumped at the opportunity to work with him.
McMahon didn’t miss a beat during his hiatus battling leukemia. He is now cancer-free, and came back to the music game with a vengeance. His voice is still as beautiful as it ever was, and his remarkable songwriting abilities come through crystal clear in these solid ballads off of the new self-titled LP.
We sat McMahon down at the piano bench at Douglass Street Records to record heartfelt renditions of “Cecilia and the Satellite,” a song about his newborn daughter, and “High Dive.”
