Our recent Buzzsession with the Brooklyn-dwelling New Zealand band, Lawrence Arabia was really quite fitting. We just so happened to stumble upon a near life-sized statue of a camel for the band to perform on. Unlike the famous character T.E. Lawrence from the 1962 film, Lawrence of Arabia, there was no headdress involved.
James Milne, aka Lawrence Arabia, released his sophomore LP, Chant Darling, only a year ago, and has been touring like a madman as of late. You may not be familiar with Milne, but he has previously been linked to The Brunettes and Okkerville River. Of the two tracks he and his bandmates played for us that day, only one, “Apple Pie Bed”, appears on his new album. The other, “Bloody Shins”, was one of the more popular tracks on his self-titled debut.
‘Buzzsessions’ is a live session series made by The Wild Honey Pie. With each new episode, we travel with a different band to a different part of New York City and record sometimes-intimate/sometimes-wild versions of two or three songs which are given away for free.
