We all know that music is powerful, that it can tug on your every emotion, that it can make you sleepy, happy, sad — that it can transport you to the past or the future. We all know this, but it’s not everyday we, or myself in particular, actually ponders this. With Portland-based Pure Bathing Culture, I can’t help but to comment on the hypnotic feelings their music seems to induce. Their songs “Pendulum” and “Dream The Dare”, performed here for our Buzzsession at Vinegar Hill Sound in Brooklyn, are the perfect example of exactly how they’re able to form their sound; a sound that, with smooth synth, flickering guitar tones, and quivering vocals, is able to stop me dead in my tracks and make me feel as if I’m on some sort of drug thinking, “holy shit this music is fucking incredible. I love this band so damn much.” Thanks Pure Bathing Culture. We love you.
‘Buzzsessions’ is a live session series produced by The Wild Honey Pie. With each new episode, we capture footage of our favorite bands as they record alternate studio-quality versions of their songs. This Buzzsession was shot at the gorgeous Vinegar Hill Sound in Brooklyn.
