Americana and folk sure are having their time to shine at the moment. With bands such as Mumford & Sons and The Lumineers leading the charge, it seems each day there’s a new song featuring a slight country twang. In all honesty, regardless of those out there who call this selling out, I couldn’t be happier about it. At the end of the day, it makes a whole slew of talented artists, artists like Willy Mason, more accessible to the mainstream — allowing them to hit a much larger audience and with it, fill larger venues and sell more records to support all they work so hard on. A couple months back, Willy Mason joined us at the Manhattan recording studio of Alex Sterling where we recorded two tracks off his 2012 album, Carry On, songs that stay very true to what folk music is and why it’s a genre that will continue to shine for a long time to come. Watch both videos below and snag the free recordings as well.

I stumbled across this myself. Great song but the video is odd. Not my choice.

Saw him live a few months ago and loved him. Such a sincere guy :D

Have seen Willy twice now, first at the Troy Stopover then by himself in Columbus. He is an amazing artist! Going to see him yet again in December with Jack White and Brendan Benson!

the free download link isn’t working on this. A fantastic couple of songs though!

I’m so happy that I’ve found this man. Discovered him by accident at Glastonbury this summer. Can’t quite pull myself away . . . Come back to England soon!

This is one of the absolute best records I have heard in a long time. It’s insane how subtle these hooks are but these songs have been in my head non-stop. He has this amazing Johnny Cash-like vocals that will suit him well with age. This session is incredible, can’t wait to see him with full band.
